Professional Pathways in Informal STEM Learning: Study of individual users

September 24th, 2025 | EVALUATION

The Building Supports Towards a Useful, Usable, and In-Use Framework of Professional Competencies in the Informal STEM Learning Field (AISL #2215274) project was undertaken to create professional learning and development tools for those who engage the public in informal STEM learning (ISL). The resulting tools are now collectively known as Professional Pathways in Informal STEM Learning, or "Pathways" for short. The suite of Pathways tools—a Framework, Self-Assessment, and Learning Plan—was developed with input and review from hundreds of professionals from across the field at all points in their careers. These tools are intended to help ISL professionals reflect on and build the skills and knowledge needed to work effectively in the ISL field. This visual report shares findings from a focused study exploring the value and utility of Pathways tools for individual professionals.
