July 30th, 2024 | EVALUATION
The Building Capacity of Co‐Created public Engagement with Science (CCPES) project was led by the Museum of Science, Boston with partners from the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and Museum of Life and Science. The project was designed to have a strategic impact on how ISE institutions create products through co-creation and choose topics of STEM engagement by gathering information from local publics. This information was then used by a local museum, community organization, civic organization, and/or scientists to create a programming about the topic.
In 2024, the Museum of Science, Boston worked to create a year of programming and exhibits about the critical issue of climate change called Earthshot. The Museum of Science worked with community and scientist partners to create products about this topic. In the first six months, the Museum of Science Research and Evaluation Department conducted summative evaluations about six Earthshot products ranging from exhibits to adult programs to forums and themed weekends. Surveys were collected from the public participants who engaged with these products to learn about their interest in these products, emotional reactions, and learning outcomes. Data from the six products is reported in the executive summary presentation.
