An Approved Course for MA DESE’s Accelerating Science: Open Access Professional Learning
Explore how scientists track nature’s most impressive superheroes — whales, sharks, turtles, birds, and butterflies — as you investigate the phenomena of migration! Engage in inquiry-based, phenomena-based, and place-based learning with the Wade Institute for Science Education and their collaborating partners Manomet, Inc., the Lloyd Center for the Environment, and the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy during a weeklong Summer Professional Development Institute. Investigate the phenomena of wildlife migration, explore technologies and tools used to track migrating species, work with real time and historical data, and learn how to get students involved in citizen monitoring programs!

Dates: July 17th – 21st, 2023 (8:30 AM – 3:30 PM ET)
Location: Manomet, Inc, Plymouth, MA
Cost: Free with a $450 stipend for eligible MA Educators through DESE’s OAPL funding; $450 per educator, discounted prices for teams of teachers from the same school or free for eligible MA educators
Credit: 3 graduate credits available for an additional fee
