There are two updated post-doctoral opportunities in NSF/EDU. These solicitations clarify that organizations such as “independent museums, observatories, research laboratories, professional societies and similar organizations located in the U.S. that are directly associated with educational research activities” are encouraged to either serve as host organizations for individual postdoctoral Fellows or to apply directly in the case of organizational solicitation.
The solicitations are:
- Individual Postdoctoral Fellowships: Solicitation (23-544) is for awards to individual postdocs conducting STEM education research with a sponsoring researcher at a host institution. Proposals are due by April 11th, 2023.
- Organizational Postdoctoral Projects: Solicitation (23-545) is for awards to organizations to establish projects that would fund postdocs conducting STEM education research. Proposals are due by April 28th, 2023.
In the case of the organizational solicitation, there is also guidance about who may serve as PI and Co-PI: PIs and co-PIs must hold full-time positions at the proposing organization in STEM, STEM education, Education, or a related discipline with a research emphasis in STEM education. This may include but is not limited to individuals with full-time academic or research appointments, those who hold positions at non-profit, non-academic organizations, such as museums, observatories, research laboratories, professional societies and similar organizations located in the United States.
