Science Media Awards & Summit: Registration, Nominations, & Judging

The Science Media Awards & Summit (SMASH16) will be held from September 20-22, 2016. SMASH16 is a unique forum to network with top scientists and top science media makers from around the world to share new work, new approaches, new ideas. The unique collaboration between Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival and WGBH Boston brings together a diverse crowd of 300+ scientists and science media stakeholders from around the world. Nominate a Film

Would you like to nominate a film for the Jackson Hole Science Media Awards?  More information about entering a film is available on the SMASH website. The call for entry closes June 1. Award-winners will be announced at a gala celebration on September 21 at the Harvard Art Museum, and showcased at special screening events hosted with partner organizations around the world.

Apply to Be a Judge

Finalists will be selected during a six-week process that involves 150+ international judges who will review 2,500+ hours of film. Craft and special program categories are judged by entirely by peer committees. The high caliber of the judges as well as the process and criteria for reviewing entries creates a rigorous competition that is thorough and unbiased. Each entry is screened in its entirety by several preliminary judges from around the world who access entries via our secure online screening room. Finalists will be announced on August 1. Our distinguished final Jury will screen and review each finalist, then convene just prior to the Science Media Summit to select this year’s Award-winners. Apply here.
