NASA Now Summative Evaluation Report

July 31st, 2016 | EVALUATION

Pacific Science Center (Science Center) has been a pillar of science education programming in Seattle, Washington since 1962. Through interactive exhibits, planetarium shows, IMAX movies and outreach, the Science Center works to inspire a lifelong interest in science, math and technology. In 2010, the Science Center joined forces with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) through NASA Now: Using Current Data, Planetarium Technology and Youth Career Development to Connect People to the Universe. NASA Now was designed to increase the awareness, knowledge and understanding of NASA missions and science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) careers among schoolchildren, teens and the general public. To accomplish this goal, the Science Center designed the NASA Now program with specific objectives and outcomes in mind for three programming areas: The Willard Smith Planetarium, Science On Wheels (School Outreach), and the youth development program Discovery Corps with the Track for Earth and Space Science Achievement (TESSA). This report, created by Geo Education & Research (Geo), describes the extent to which the Science Center achieved each of these objectives and outcomes.
