Professional Bio
As Executive Director of the Miami Science Museum’s Center for Interactive Learning (CIL), Dr. Brown brings extensive experience in the development and evaluation of innovative educational programming.
She has played a leadership role nationally in bringing the resources of the informal science education community to the K-12 educational reform movement, and has won numerous awards for her contributions to the field, including the 2005 Eleanor Roosevelt Fund Award from the American Association of University Women, for outstanding contributions to equity and education for women and girls, the 2005 Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring, for leadership in developing and implementing innovative science enrichment programming for underserved youth, the 2001 National Award for Museum Service, and the Digital Stepping-stones Award from the Tomás Rivera Policy Institute, for helping to close the digital divide. Dr. Brown also received the NSTA Informal Science Educator of the Year Award in 1995.
