Professional Bio
Rick Garmon is a Project Manager for Chicago Children's Museum (CCM) in Chicago, IL. His responsibilities include management of special projects and grants, development of STEM and technology-oriented exhibitions components and programs, and coordination of museum research initiatives. Rick is naturally drawn to complex projects with a technical and/or STEM focus. He enjoys strengthening his skill-set and knowledge in the informal sciences and meeting other professionals in the museum community. Before joining CCM in 2003 Rick worked in the IT sector as an art director/designer, programmer and journalist. His design portfolio includes projects for NBA, Marshall Fields (now Macy's), and several major motion pictures. Rick's writings have been published in National Geographic, USA Today, and the Chicago Tribune. Rick holds a degree in Visual Communication from the Illinois Institute of Art. He's currently a student at Truman College pursuing a second degree in Finance. In his free time Rick enjoys staying active (tennis, martial arts, swimming, etc.), tinkering, and walking aimlessly around the city.
