Professional Bio
Dr. Melber has been involved with the field of informal education since 1991. In that time she has worked on exhibition development teams, traveled abroad to document the work of museum researchers, authored curriculum, designed professional development programs and served as a consultant in the area of educational television. Her research in the area of family learning within museums as well as effective connections between formal and informal education has been shared through numerous peer reviewed publications and national and international presentations. She has recently published a book titled "Informal Learning and Field Trips" (Corwin, 2008) and received the 2001 Informal Science Educator award from CSTA. She is currently the Director of Student and Teacher Programs at the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago and also serves as a consultant and evaluator in the field of museum education nation-wide.
